It’s 8am and I’m somewhere over Montana on United 1210, the 6am flight from Seattle to Chicago; undoubtedly the perfect time to waste time on a project that would otherwise be ignored in favor of Pinky and the Brain reruns.

A while ago I heard a news story on NPR about a man who, through some happenstance cross-wiring in his brain, associated music with colors. He would ask to hear “that blue song” or that he really enjoyed the “orange” in that last ditty. It got me thinking, if I could see colors in music, what colors I would see? Assuming the colors have less to do with words than the style and emotions the music evokes, I’ve color coded all the artists in my iPod. The relative size of each artist is a reflection of my appreciation for them. In some cases, use of the term “artist” loosely applies.
